You’ve probably noticed that it’s hard to be motivated all the time. No matter what you are working on, there are bound to be days when you don’t feel like showing up. There will be workouts that you don’t feel like starting. There will be reports that you don’t feel like writing. There will be responsibilities that you don’t feel like handling. And there will be off days when your energy and emotions are in the gutter.

These fluctuations are part of life, and I face these motivational challenges just as much as the other person. Recently, I was challenged to find things to be grateful for. Challenge accepted, plus one. Try it, I promise you have so much to be grateful for every day. Let’s do it! Write a list of 100 things you are grateful for. Some might think that is too many. If that is the case, try this:

  • Write 10 living people you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 people who have died you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 physical abilities you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 material possessions you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 things about nature you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 things about today you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 places on earth you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 modern-day inventions you are
grateful for.
  • Write 10 foods you are grateful for.
  • Write 10 things about works/business you are grateful for.

When we make a list like this, we discover that a list of 100 doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all the things you have on your life. Maybe not every item on this list works in your life, then take what works from here and create and add to put together your own list. Well, I’d like to share a small list of 10 simple things, fundamental things that I feel grateful for. I usually reflect on one or a few of these things when I need to but I thought a list like this one could be helpful both for you and for me.

More list for things to be grateful for …..

For the ability to help others in need who remind us that we are all in need, in one way or another.

For good times and bad times – that we celebrate them or made it through them.

For suffering and pain and failure because it teaches you to be grateful and aware that you only have so much control.

For faith, hope, and love. Because those things are free, irreplaceable, and the only things that last a lifetime.
